March 11, 2006
This weekend also found the Cadet Corps going in two different directions. SGM John Ohmer took the Raider team to Morgan State University in Baltimore for their annual JROTC Raider Challenge. The team competed against 14 other High Schools. The weather was beautiful, in the high 60s, the good weather brought the Magruder team good luck. They won first place in the PT event, also taking overall First Place for the Raider Challenge. The team had come close in the years past but this year they WON. Congratulations to C/1LT Steve Kawazoe for leading his team to victory. Gaithersburg High School held it's annual Navy JROTC Drill Meet. LTC Leonard Whiteside took the Color Guard and Drill team to Gaithersburg, MD to participate in this cross service drill meet. The team's exposure to other military JROTC units gave them good experience in drill and ceremony, and what to expect at drill meet hosted by another branch of the military.

March 4, 2006
Saturday March 4th was a busy weekend for Magruder's Cadet Corps. In the morning, the drill team and color guard participated in Forestville Military Academy 2nd Annual Drill Meet. Color Guard "B" team lead by Freshman C/CPL Elena Chesnutt won a thrid place trophy. This speaks highly of her leadership and potential status as Color Guard Commander. Saturday evening Magruder JROTC held it's annual Military Ball at the Montgomery County Country Club. This year the Cadet Corps nominated and voted for Mr. and Miss JROTC - Steven Kawazoe received the honors as Mr. JROTC and Roxana Alas is Miss JROTC for 2006.

October 20, 2005
With the hard work of the battalion staff and leaders, Magruder JROTC has received a total of 576 points out of 600 points for the Off-Year inspection. The Off-Year inspection included the overall examination of the battalion, briefings by the battalion staff, and a knowledge test to selected cadets. Well done First Eagle Battalion!

Eastern Region Drill Meet - March 19, 2005
Eastern Region hosted it's annual drill meet at the Prince George's County Learning and Sports Complex. Magruder's Color Guard, Armed and Unarmed Drill Team, and Exhibition Teams participated in this annual event which they worked hard practicing all year for.

Morgan State University Raider Challenge - March 12, 2005
Magruder's winning Raider Team stepped up to the challenge at Morgan State University's JROTC Raider Challenge 2005. This years team consisited of eight members plus two alternates. The challenge consisted of five events; Physical Fitness Challenge, First Aid/Litter Carry, One Rope Bridge, Land Navigation and the 5KM Road March. Magruder's Raider Team took first place in "Rope Bridge".

Military Ball - March 5, 2005
Magruder hosted it's 20th Annual Military Ball at the Montgomery County Country Club. The ball was attended by 162 cadets their dates and invited guests. This years guest speaker was Mr. Wayne Wiggim, who when he was the Assistant Principal at Magruder High School started the JROTC program in 1984. Last week nominations and elections were held for Mr. and Miss JROTC. This years winners are: Miss JROTC, Sydney F. Street and Mr. JROTC, Hugo R. Minera, Jr. Dr. David I. Steinberg, Principal, presented Ms. Street a dozen long stem red roses and plaque for Miss JROTC, and C/CSM Hugo a plaque for Mr. JROTC. Ms. Street and C/CSM Hugo started the evening by dancing the first dance. Fun was had by all cadets who danced the night away with music provided by a live DJ.

Lieutenant Governor Steele visits Magruder - February 14, 2005
On Valentine's Day, Magruder High School Army JROTC Cadets greeted and provided hall guides and escorts for Lieutenant Governor Michael S. Steele and Maryland State School Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick. Lt Governor Steele and Ms. Grasmick attended a special tech ed conference at Magruder.

Veterans Day - November 11, 2004
Colonel Zadok Magruder Army JROTC Cadets honored all Veterans with a flag raising ceremony and pass-in-review. Pricipal Dr. David Steinburg and C/LTC Dana Gingrich placed a wreath at the base of the school's flag pole in their honor. The event was video taped and played on closed circuit TV through out the school during the morning announcements.

Military Appreciation Day - September 11, 2004
Magruder's JROTC Color Guard and the Color Guards from 27 other high schools performed at half time on September 11th for "Military Appreciation Day 2004" at the U.S. Naval Academy Football game. Magruder's Color Guard was the lead team on and off the football field. Additionally 39 Magruder cadets enjoyed a beautiful Saturday afternoon football game where Navy beat Northeastern.
